Abstract
The modification of a turbulent wind profile owing to momentum transfer from wind to surface waves is calculated in terms of the power spectrum of the surface-wave slope. The reduction in profile curvature, and hence of the wind-to-wave energy-transfer coefficient, is estimated on the basis of a Neumann spectrum. It appears that this reduction is likely to be small for typical wind speeds. Keywords
