Abstract
This article presents information on a study which examined the salary differential between male and female administrators in higher education institutions in the United States. The focus of research on gender-based salary differentials in public institutions of higher education is on faculty members. It reveals that female administrators were paid only about 80 percent as much as men with the same job titles who were employed by the same types of institutions in terms of salary, according to a nationwide survey of colleges and universities conducted in 1975–1976.Keywords
