Abstract
To the Editor: The paper by Lockshin et al. (July 18 issue)1 on the presence of anticardiolipin antibody and the outcome of pregnancy in women with systemic lupus erythematosus raises important issues. The association between anticardiolipin antibody and another antiphospholipid antibody in pregnancy, the lupus anticoagulant, is well established.2 Retrospective studies have confirmed repeated fetal losses in women with the lupus anticoagulant.
