Abstract
The compounds Pd(PPri3)n (n = 2 or 3) and Pd(PMePh2)4 react with CS2 to give the mononuclear complexes (PR3)2Pd(η2 -CS2). In the reactions of Pd(PMe3)4 and Pd(PMe2Ph)4 with CS2 binuclear complexes [(PR3)Pd(S2CPR3)]2 containing bridging phosphoniodithio-carboxylates as ligands are formed. [(PMe3)Pd(S2CPMe3)]2 is also obtained from (PR3)2Pd(η2 -CS2) (PR3 = PPri 3, PMePh2, PPh3) and PMe3. The reactions of Pd(PR3)n with the zwitter ions PMe3CS2 and PMe2PhCS2 lead to binuclear compounds [(PR3)Pd(S2CPR′3)]2 (PR3 = PPri 3, PMe2Ph, PMePh2, PPh3; PR′3 = PMe3, and PR3 = PMePh2; PR′3 = PMe2Ph). [(PMe3)Pd(S2CPMe3)]2 reacts with PMe3 with cleavage of the phosphoniodithiocarboxylate bridges to give (PMe3)2Pd(S2CPMe3). The formation of [(PMe3)Ni(S2CPMe3)]2 from Ni(PMe3)4 and PMe3CS2 is also described.
