Abstract
Twenty-five patients with Parkinson''s syndrome were given 1.5 mg L-dopa/kg [dihydro-phenylalamine] bw in a double blind study. Several factors that mav have influenced the results are discussed. This dose of L-dopa is not superior to saline in relieving the symptoms of the syndrome. However, it is possible that a larger dose or a combination with a MAO [monoamine oxidase]-inhibitor might give more satisfactory therapeutic results though this probably is of more theoretical than practical interest today.
