Abstract
Starch, dextrine, sucrose, maltose, and lactose were fed as 60% of the diet of rats. Lactose as sole source of carbohydrate promotes the best growth of acidophilus bacteria but poorest growth of the animal, while cornstarch promotes excellent growth of the rat but effects no change in intestinal flora. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
