Abstract
In the planktonic copepod Copilia (Giesbrecht) the visual system consists of paired visual receptors, which appear to scan the visual field in the focal plane of the objective lens of the eye. A description of three species is given from which an evolutionary sequence may be deduced. Speculations are offered as to the advantages to be gained by such a mechanism. Keywords
