An Organized Hospital Based Home Care Program

Abstract
A study was made of general hospital patients who were clinically suitable for care at home under a plan organized to furnish doctor visits, nursing visits, laboratory and radiology services, and meal preparation when needed. 14.8% patients in a large general hospital were medically suitable for home care and of these 47.3% had homes or families willing and able to accept them. Diagnostic groupings, social, economic, ethnic, and religious factors influencing care in the home are presented along with family acceptance.
