Abstract
Pleuropneumonia in swine due to H. pleuropneumonia ssp. parahaemolyticus was reported. The frequency of chronic pleuritis in slaughtered baconers in these herds was related to the frequency of seropositive sows in the herds. Evidently, H. pleuropneumonia is the most important cause of pleuritis in baconers. A seasonal variation of infection was found. The relationship of age and size of herd with infection was discussed.
