Synthesis of long-chain coumarines and 2H-chromenes. Spectral and monolayer properties

Abstract
Several coumarines and 2H-chromenes containing 1 or 2 long-chain substituents were synthesized and their spectroscopic properties (UV, NMR) were investigated. All compounds were studied at the air-water interface. Five give a monolayer which is characterized by the pressure-area isotherm. An interpretation of the isotherms is discussed in relation to the molecular structure.
