The Preparation and Pharmacological Screening of Kessoglycol Derivative

Abstract
Kessoglycol-2-acetyl-8-acylates, kessogylcol-8-acylates and kessoglycol-2,8-diacylates were prepared to examine their sedative effect in mice by comparing them with kessoglycol-2,8-diacetate, in prolonging the sleeping time induced by orally administered sodium hexobarbital. The kessoglycol-2-acetyl-8-acylates were less effective, but the kessoglycol-2,8-diacylates were equal or more effective than kessoglycol-2,8-diacetate. The structure-activity relationship of these compounds is not yet established.
