Direct determination of the stereospecificity of the Δ1-dehydrogenation of testosterone using tritium nuclear magnetic resonance

Abstract
3 H-N.m.r. spectroscopic studies of the steric course of the Δ1-dehydrogenation of testosterone show a highly stereospecific microbial 1α,2β-trans elimination, in contrast to the corresponding chemical transformation by DDQ, in which both cis- and trans-elimination processes occur.
