Microscopic Study of d-4He Scattering by RGM with Distortion Effect

Abstract
Elastic d-4He scattering at low energies is investigated by using the resonating group method (RGM) with the realistic effective nuclear potentials which include the central and the spin-orbit parts. In order to take the distortion effect into account, we make use of the coupled-channel RGM in terms of a variational method in using trial functions for the intercluster wave function. It is shown that the inclusion of the distortion effect of the deuteron is required to reproduce the experimental data, especially the existence of the bound state in the s state. The characteristic properties of the d-4He interaction are clarified with respect to the effect of the particle exchange. The validity of the orthogonality condition model is also clarified by comparing with both calculations. As another type of distortion effects in the collision between composite particles, the effect of the coupling with the 3He-3H channel is shown to be considerably large even at very low energy scattering of d and 4He.
