Abstract
This article illustrates how the principles and practice dimensions of the theory of man-living-health were used to change the health situation of a family facing the loss of the family patriarch who had experienced major neurosurgery. Theoretical structures from the theory of man- living-health are elucidated through describing nursing care with the family. The article demonstrates the value of theory-based nursing prac tice by describing how care based on the theory of man-living-health transformed a family situation as the family members struggled to live their value priorities. Keywords
