Abstract
As an experiment vertical rows of eternite slabs were submerged at three stations in Kviturdvikpollen and Vågsböpollen, near Bergen on the Norwegian west coast, during the spring. After some months the slabs were taken up, and the distribution of the sessile macroscopical animals settled on them was related to the salinity, oxygen, and light conditions prevailing around them. The results put together with those of Nair (1962) underline further the position of Kviturdvikpollen as a transitional area between the sea (Raunefjorden) and Vågsböpollen.
