Abstract
The nitrogen-fixing bacterium, Azotobacter beijerinckii, has been isolated from a market-garden soil at Lower Hutt. This is believed to be the first recorded occurrence of this organism in a New Zealand soil. Azotobacter chroococcum was not detected.Keywords
