Abstract
Acetazolamide (Diamox), a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, had an anticonvulsant effect in children with seizures of the type not specifically influenced by acid-base changes. The findings are compatible with observations in animals that the anticonvulsant action of Diamox is inhibition directly related to inhibition of brain carbonic anhydrase and is independent of the metabolic acidosis which results from inhibition of the enzyme in the kidney. Keywords
