Abstract
A case of metastatic carcinoma (primary in bronchus) to the pericardium, producing the syndrome of constrictive pericarditis, is reported. The clinical picture was suggestive of chronic cardiac compression due to tuberculosis. The diagnosis of malignant was not established until thoracotomy. Although involvement of the pericardium is not uncommon in generalized carcinomatosis, the production of the syndrome of cardiac compression is rare. Attention is directed to the clinician that the clinical picture of constrictive pericarditis may be produced by a malignant process.
