Hemoglobin and Blood Cells of Growing Beef Cattle

Abstract
Comparison of Angus and Hereford calves at each 100 lb. increment between 500 and 800 lb. body weight shows that the amount of hemoglobin per unit volume of blood, hemoglobin content of individual cells, and concentration of hemoglobin in each red blood cell increases with body weight increases. The numbers of red blood cells, white blood cells, lymphocytes and monocytes decreased with increases in body weight.
