The Aerobic and Anaerobic Metabolism of the Common Cockroach (Periplaneta orientalis). Part I

Abstract
By manometer methods the gas exchange (O and CO2) of the cockroach has been studied. In normal animals the metabolic rate falls as the body weight increases[long dash]younger and lighter animals having the highest rates. In an atmosphere of N the cockroach goes into debt for O and when returned to air an excess of O over the normal intake is consumed.
