Abstract
In brief The pain and disability associated with hallux valgus can be disabling during athletic performance. The etiology and progression of this bony and muscular deformity can be controlled with orthoses. When indicated, surgical correction will realign the first metatarsophalangeal joint to allow normal function. Keywords
