Abstract
Residency training has undergone many changes within the last several years. Besides the work-hour restrictions, which began in July 2003, the other major change has been the integration of the 6 core Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education competencies into residency training. Every residency program must document individual resident competence in patient care, medical knowledge, professionalism, interpersonal and communication skills, practice-based learning and improvement (PBLI), and systems-based practice. Keywords
