Abstract
A Madagascar, tradition, économie moderne et leurs combinaisons semblent avoir dessiné un écheveau serré de divisions. L'auteur part de l'hypothèse qu'il s'agit d'espaces dotés, selon les lieux ou les catégories sociales, de significations inégales, positives ou négatives. Il tente de dresser l'inventaire de ces espaces et de leurs sens, considérant successivement ceux qui s'enracinent dans le passé, ceux qui ont été créés par l'introduction d'une économie d'échanges extravertie, et ceux qui sont nés de la croissance plus discrète des échanges intérieurs. La diversité des échelles d'organisation ne crée pas une hiérarchie, mais une pseudo-hiérarchie, les sens de ces espaces étant différents, voire antagonistes. La formation d'une hiérarchie régionale suppose un projet politique et économique, avec le choix d'espaces ayant à la fois un sens pour la grande masse et pour un système économique plus autocentré.Significant spaces and regional perspectives in Madagascar. — In Madagascar, traditions, modern economics and their combinations seem to have traced a tight network of divisions. The author starts from the hypothesis that there are spaces having unequal significance, positive or negative, depending on the area or on social categories. He attempts to make an inventory of these spaces and their meaning, considering in turn those rooted in the past, those that have been created by the introduction of an outward looking economy of exchanges, and those born of the more discreet growth of internal exchanges. The diversity of the organizational levels creates not a hierarchy, but a pseudo-hierarchy, since the meanings of these spaces are different, even conflicting. To form a regional hierarchy presupposes a political and economic perspective, with the choice of spaces having a simple meaning for the overall mass and for a selfcentered economic system.Raison Jean-Pierre.
