Abstract
We introduce the use of a SELFOC gradient index lens as a micro-optical element for collection and focusing of luminescence of single molecules in solid matrices. We demonstrate its performance by measuring single molecule spectra of terrylene in n-alkanes and compare its signal-to-noise ratio and collection efficiency with that of a microscope objective. Keywords
