Abstract
The infrared and proton magnetic resonance spectra of α- and β-parachloral have been investigated and the dipole moment of α-parachloral has been determined. The results show that both isomers have the chair configuration of the ring and that α-parachloral has symmetry CS, with one axial and two equatorial CCl3 groups and that β-parachloral has symmetry C3v with three equatorial CCl3 groups. Keywords
