Abstract
Excited states of the spin-triplet self-trapped exciton (STE) in NaF, NaCl, and NaBr crystals are calculated by an ab initio Hartree-Fock method. The results are consistent with the experimental data measured by transient absorption and support the off-center model of the STE according to which the STE is an interacting Frenkel defect pair. Keywords
