Abstract
Summary The long-term use of iodochlorhydroxyquin, 250 mg, 3 times daily, has been employed in 4,000 institutionalized patients over a period of 4 years. Successful prophylaxis against shigellosis and amebiasis was uniformly observed. Successful therapeusis with the same agent against these organisms appears confirmed. Toxic manifestations of such therapy have been extremely infrequent, mild in nature, and completely reversible upon withdrawal of the agent. Keywords
