Surface Markers on Lymphocytes from Human Cerebrospinal Fluid

Abstract
Surface markers of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and peripheral blood (PB) lymphocytes from 13 patients affected with subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE) have been compared with those from 10 children affected with various ‘nonimmunological’ diseases of the nervous system. A significant decrement of CSF T cells bearing IgG Fc receptors was found in 9 over 13 SSPE patients. Some hypotheses on the meaning of these data are discussed.
