Abstract
Various mono- and bis-(amine)halides and thiocyanates of CrII have been prepared. The complexes [Cr(bipy)X2] and [Cr(phen)X2](bipy = 2,2′-bipyridyl, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, X = Cl or Br) are high spin but with considerable antiferromagnetic interaction due to halide bridging in octahedral structures, while [Cr(bipy)2X2](X = I or SCN) and [Cr(phen)2] are low spin. Infrared data show that the thiocyanato-complexes have a cis-N-bonded configuration. Keywords
