Abstract
The Near Eastern Silurian Correlation Chart presents the currently available data bearing on the age of the Silurian rocks in that region. In addition, the Silurian position of the Near East as an extension of the North African lithofacies picture is discussed, as well as the curving to the southeast of the northeast-extending shoreline and lithofacies trends from Africa as southeastern Turkey is reached. The animal communities of the Near East are similar to those known elsewhere for the Silurian. No evidence for provincialism is present in the Silurian of the Near East. Keywords
