Abstract
Levodopa is highly effective for the treatment of parkinsonism. However, it may cause a number of adverse reactions. The most common untoward effects are gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, vomiting, anorexia), cardiovascular effects (orthostatic hypotension, minor disturbances of cardiac rate and rhythm, flushing), psychic reactions, and involuntary movements.
