Abstract
Through the substantive practice experience of relating to patients, the author has identified provisional attributes associated with presence. Concept analysis was used to systematically illustrate the uses of presence identified by other authors and disciplines. A model case with the attributes of presence as described by the author is presented. The provisional attributes proposed by the author are (a) time with another (T), (b) unconditional positive regard (UPR), (c) transactional speaking with, being with, doing with (TR), (d) encounter that is valued (EV), (e) connectedness (essence linking) (C), and (9) sustaining memory (SM). The definition of presence as a nursing intervention is included. Keywords
