Abstract
The following account of an autochthonous case of Oriental sore in Panama adds one other to the list of regions to be included in the geographical distribution of this disorder. The lesion followed the bite of a fly which was undoubtedly a tabanid; ; and as the case is a solitary one, it raises again the question of the specificity of the different strains of Leishmania tropica causing Oriental sore. REPORT OF CASE History. —The patient, J. A. C., negro, aged 44, was born in Demerara. He had lived in Paramaribo for three years, in Nickeri for eighteen months and in Trinidad subsequently for twenty-four years. In September, 1909, he came to the city of Panama where he lived one month.
