Theory of the Phonon-Induced Hyperfine Coupling Constant of Mn 2+ in the Cubic Coordination

Abstract
The theory of the phonon-induced hyperfine coupling constant of Mn2+ in the cubic coordination using the proper angular procedure is presented. The theory is applied to Mn2+ in SrF2. The agreement between theory and experiment is within an order of magnitude. The zero-point contribution to the hyperfine coupling constant is -0.91 gauss and the hyperfine coupling constant in the “rigid lattice” at T = 0 °K is -104.4 gauss. It is also found that the previous theory will give rise to an error of about 15% in comparison with the estimate of the present theory at high temperatures.
