Abstract
An energy sum rule for fermion levels split by -body exchange forces is derived and expressed in terms of Young tableau "hook lengths." The Franzini-Radicati nuclear mass formula is rederived and generalized to include the effect of -body operators. The form of a mass splitting by a three-body term is computed in detail.
