Abstract
Signature analysis of small, complex, cyclic mechanisms is discussed. An envelope preprocessor for isolating signal events relating to mechanical impacts is developed. A recognition system based on second-order (normal) statistics is used and the use of statistical procedures for signature intepretation is presented. Experimental evidence is presented to support the validity of this approach to mechanical diagnostics signature analysis. Keywords
