Abstract
The relativistic corrections to the Lande factors for the 3P1 and 1P1 levels of the configurations 5s5p of Cd and 6s6p of Hg are calculated from the relativistic Zeeman operator in the central-field approximation. The relativistic corrections are insufficiently accounted for by the Breit-Margenau operator when the coupling deviates from the pure jj scheme. Keywords
