Variation in Loxothylacus panopaei (Gissler), a Common Sacculinid Parasite of Mud Crabs, with the Description of Loxothylacus perarmatus, n. sp.

Abstract
The morphological and taxonomic characteristics of L. panopaei were examined in 23 specimens from 5 localities in Florida, Louisiana, and Texas and from hosts representing 3 different species of Xanthidae. The extent of variability of this common rhizocephalan is reported in detail. L. perarmatus, found on the crab Parthenope pourtalesi (Stimpson) in the Gulf of Mexico, is described and figured.
