Abstract
1. Some olfactory structures of the sloth (Cholœpus hoffmanni Peters) were systematically explored by electrophysiological methods. The results of the exploration of the olfactory bulbs, the lateral olfactory tract and the prepiriform cortex correspond to data obtained from other mammals. 2. The time course of the responses of the prepiriform cortex induced by stimulation of the olfactory bulb is longer than in the cat. 3. Though present, post-tetanic potentiation is only of moderate size. 4. The tonic depressive influences emanating from the olfactory bulb on the prepiriform cortex and on the contralateral olfactory bulb could be confirmed in the sloth. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
