Formation in the H2 + N2O Reaction on Platinum

Abstract
Catalytic oxidation of H2 by N 2 O on Pt has been investigated in a fast flow system, HO radicals were detected by means of the laser‐induced fluorescence technique using a tunable dye laser. The kinetics of the HO radical production have been measured at different reactant pressures and catalyst temperatures. These results indicate that the desorption process HO * ⇒ HO + * takes place with an activation energy of 28 ± 2 kcal/mole.
