Abstract
Barbula mamillosa sp. nov. grows as dense, compact, green and brown tufts. Stems are filiform and rhizoids are smooth and brown. Male reproductive organs are described. Female plants and sporophytes are unknown. It was found on calcareous rock crags in a grass-heath community, at an altitude of about 600 m. It should be looked for on calcareous rocks in subarctic or subalpine situations.
