Biological Effects of Spoil Disposal in Chesapeake Bay

Abstract
Field studies were made on the biota of the upper Chesapeake Bay under a design related to the shallow water disposal of channel sediments. No gross effects were observed on the phyto-zooplankton, fish eggs and fish larvae of adult fishes. Some bottom animals were smothered over a wide area. Several benthic species survived deposition, and certain species began repopulation soon after deposition.
