Abstract
Upon stimulation of the digital nerves electrically with single shocks, the action potential of the afferent volley was measured through surface electrodes at the median and ulnar nerves above the wrist. In patients with median and ulnar nerve lesions, action potentials were of small amplitude and latent. Action potentials were absent in the presence of brachial plexus lesions causing sensory loss in the hand. Potentials are small and delayed or absent in chronic polyneuritis or muscular atrophy. Keywords
