Mathematical Models in Science

Abstract
This paper reviews some of the work which has been done here during the past two years on ways of integrating the teaching of mathematics and science at sixth form level and beyond. One approach has been in the production of monographs on particular topics in mathematics of interest to the science student. This is extended by the use of digital computer facilities, both remote and interactive. The importance of the mathematical model is emphasized throughout. A particular section of work in biology and mathematics is taken as an example to illustrate these approaches.
