Abstract
The paper addresses the question of preliminary design of monitoring systems for use in the enforcement of water quality standards in estuaries. Central concepts of preliminary design first developed for use in the uni-directional flow, one-dimensional portions of river basins are extended to the case of two-dimensional, vertically well- mixed estuaries. Keywords
