Abstract
Magnetostriction constants were determined by means of a strain gauge at temperatures from -180 to 85°C on monocrystals of Mn–Zn–Fe ternary ferrites. For almost all specimens λ111 was positive and λ100 was negative. The values of λ100 were small for the compositions with excess Fe2O3, whereas λ111's were small for the compositions with deficient Fe2O3. Square hysteresis loop was observed at the composition with small λ111 and with easy directions of magnetization parallel to direction. High permeability realized in this ternary system seems to be caused by its small avarage magnetostriction as well as its small crystalline anisotropy. Keywords
