Abstract
Two topics of importance for the theory of star formation are illustrated by treatment in a disc-like geometry: (1) the evolution through differential flux diffusion of a gas cloud initially in magneto-gravitational equilibrium, leading to the collapse of a cloud core; and (2) the effect of turbulent support on the cloud structure, especially on the topology of the magnetic field. Keywords
