Abstract
Although short-course antiretroviral therapy is efficient in reducing mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) of HIV-1, it does not prevent transmission during the breastfeeding period. There is therefore an urgent need to test various approaches, including HIV-1 vaccination, to try to prevent postnatal transmission of HIV-1 in breastfeeding populations in developing countries. Keywords
