Abstract
A defect occasionally seen at the distal end of the common bile duct is described. It is probably due to prominence or particular arrangement of the musculature at the choledochoduodenal junction. The defect is cyclical in nature, always located at the distal end of the common bile duct and is not obliterated by the administration of antispasmodic or anesthetic agents. If unrecognized, this defect can lead to misdiagnosis and sometimes unnecessary exploration. Keywords
