High Serum Glutamic Acid Levels in Patients with Carcinoma of the Pancreas

Abstract
High levels of glutamic acid and normal levels of glutamine were found in the blood of all but one of ten patients with carcinoma of the pancreas. No changes of the concentration in blood of these two amino acids were observed in 49 patients suffering from several diseases including malignant tumours. Although the mechanism of the rise of serum glutamic acid is difficult to explain at present, it may have some diagnostic value.Keywords
